Job summary

Rocket Lab Optical Systems in Chantilly, VA seeks a Senior Firmware Engineer II to design FPGA logic for space payloads and to support the DoD/IC mission programs. You will work with hardware teams to deliver robust FPGA implementations, simulations, and tests across orbital environments.

Minimum requirements include a BS in EE/CE, 8+ years FPGA firmware experience, and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance. The role offers competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in writing FPGA firmware from scratch in VHDL.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Work with the hardware design team on requirements.
• Complete FPGA logic design, coding, simulation, and testing.
• Support hardware and software development teams in bring-up and test of products.
• Provide subject-matter expertise regarding design and automated test development procedures to customers and production support team.
• Perform research and analysis of data, such as customer proposed specifications, datasheets, or manuals to determine design approach and/or feasibility.
• Execute debugging of the design in the lab.
• Perform synthesis, implementation, and timing analysis.
