Job summary

AeroVironment's Electronic Warfare group in Sunrise, Florida seeks aSenior FPGA Engineer to advance digital hardware and FPGA-based systems for defense applications. You’ll move concepts from architecture to verification, working with a multidisciplinary team to deliver robust, maintainable hardware.

The role blends hands-on problem solving with technical leadership, offering pathways toward SME status or leadership while shaping critical FPGA platforms and SDR capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of FPGA/digital design experience, or Master’s with 6 years.
• Proficiency in digital design and simulation.
• Proficiency in hardware description languages (HDLs), preferably VHDL.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design complex digital hardware and FPGA-based systems.
• Prepare project design documentation including requirements, design specs, test plans, and reports.
• Design and conduct experiments; analyze data to validate performance.
• Collaborate with hardware, FPGA, DSP, software, systems, and test engineers.
• Assign tasks to and direct engineers, technicians, and staff.
• Plan and coordinate detailed engineering work ensuring quality and schedule adherence.
• Prepare scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for projects.
• Assist in proposals to obtain funding for engineering projects.
