Job Title: Senior FPGA Design Engineer

Job Purpose:

Based in Huntsville, AL, SCI Technology’s Advanced Technology Group, with a fast-paced start-up atmosphere plus the stability and resources of a Fortune-500 company, is seeking highly motivated engineers to join our team. Working with technology partners, we rapidly develop new products for a wide range of defense, aerospace, and commercial markets.

We are currently seeking a senior FPGA Design Engineer to join our Aircraft and Tactical design teams in the development of new high reliable communications equipment. This position will require experience with development of FPGA’s in a DO-254 environment. You will be expected to support design activities from requirements definition, testbench designs, code integration, DO-254 documentation, validation and verification testing. You will be expected to perform assigned duties with minimal supervision.

Nature of Duties/Responsibilities:

• Work with cross-functional project teams to develop new products
• Collaborate with engineers and program team to create overall system requirements and derived requirements
• Prototyping of FPGA designs, including development kits and laboratory builds
• Develop test cases for FPGA design validation
• Test bench development for FPGA design validation
• Document FPGA designs to DO-254 level C and higher
• Technical communication with internal and external customers

Education and Experience:

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer & Systems Engineering or similar field from an ABET accredited university (MS is beneficial).
• 5 to 10 years of experience in the design of complex FPGA devices with embedded cores
• 5 years minimum experience with DO-254 Verification Process, DAL-C or higher
• Extensive VHDL experience
• Experience generating test cases from requirements and deriving lower-level requirements
• Experience with TCL scripting
• Experience with in-system verification testing as well as requirements validation
• Familiar with FPGA modular testbench development (generation, debug, validation)
• Experience with microcontroller circuit design and programming is a plus
• Experience in the design of electronic systems using Cadence Allegro or another ECAD software is a plus
• Proficient in use of MS Office Suite
• Must possess the ability to work successfully in a cross-functional team environment and be able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms
• Strong problem-solving skills, good verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to obtain a security clearance if required
