Job summary

Alaska Airlines is seeking a Senior Financial Planning Analyst to serve as a subject matter expert in FP&A, providing insights and recommendations to support cost-saving goals. You will own monthly close, budgeting, and forecasting, building multi-year models and presenting analyses to senior leadership.

The role requires strong Excel/PowerPoint skills, GAAP knowledge, and the ability to work with large datasets.

Qualifications

  • 4 years of experience in finance, accounting, investment banking or related area.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or related field, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Experience using net present value (NPV) and associated calculations as a decision-making tool.
  • Experience with cash flow and balance sheet metrics as well as activity-based costing.
  • Knowledge of GAAP.
  • Knowledge of reporting fundamentals.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with Excel (and large datasets) and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills, with an ability to explain complex concepts to audiences of varying organizational levels, including executive management.
  • A self-starter with a bias for action.
  • Detail-driven, with the ability to understand overriding goals.
  • Minimum age of 18 and authorization to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert in FP&A.
  • Facilitate procedural changes and technological advances within FP&A to increase efficiency and transparency.
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis and insights to senior leadership to support cost-saving goals and strategies.
  • Own monthly cadence output, including close process, market profitability, variance-to-budget and forecast reporting.
  • Prepare financial models and reporting to support decision making, including multi-year modeling, benchmarking, and what-if scenarios.
  • Partner with disparate FP&A divisions and corporate groups to complete and present analysis of corporate initiatives.
  • Assist in the preparation and dissemination of budget goals and aggregating final output for Board presentation.
