Job summary

Fleetio is looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to land key accounts by turning urgent customer needs into shippable product work. You will collaborate with Sales and Customer Success to translate deals into technical plans and deliver durable Fleetio features for strategic accounts.

The role emphasizes ownership from discovery to delivery in a high-trust, async-friendly environment, with a focus on maintainability and production readiness across a remote team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with Ruby on Rails.
• 2+ years with React.
• Strong experience building and shipping production web applications with a focus on quality and maintainability.
• Experience collaborating with non-technical stakeholders, translating needs into technical plans, and managing expectations.
• Strong written communication and comfort working in a remote, async-friendly environment.

Responsibilities

• Ship high-leverage product improvements that unblock strategic deals and expand what Fleetio can confidently commit to for key accounts.
• Partner closely with Sales and Customer Success to understand constraints, timelines, and customer workflows; then, turn those needs into clear requirements and implementation plans.
• Drive work end-to-end: clarify the problem, align stakeholders, deliver iteratively, and ensure what you ship is production-ready and supportable.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Engineering peers to make pragmatic scope decisions and deliver iteratively.
• Build solutions that meet Fleetio's product and engineering standards: testing, observability, maintainability, documented.
• Communicate proactively and clearly about tradeoffs, risks, and timelines.

As a Forward Deployed Engineer you'll help us land key accounts by working closely with Sales and Customer Success to translate urgent, high-stakes needs into high-quality product work - shipped as durable Fleetio product that can be supported like the rest of the platform.

If you're excited by high-impact, high-visibility engineering work this could be a great fit. The engineers in this role will directly influence outcomes for key accounts and help close some of the largest deals at Fleetio.

• Experience working on a large-scale Ruby on Rails application.
• Experience working on customer-facing platform/product capabilities that support enterprise accounts.
• Experience partnering with go-to-market teams (Sales, Customer Success) on delivery of time-sensitive commitments.
