Job summary

Databricks in London is seeking a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer to own architecture and deliver end-to-end data and AI solutions on the Databricks platform. You will lead design decisions, build reference architectures, and work across data engineering, AI, and application development for measurable business impact.

This hands-on, customer-facing role requires strong engineering skills, adaptability, and the ability to embed with customer teams to ensure successful deployments.

Qualifications

• Experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering / full stack development.
• Comfortable writing code in Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks.
• Working knowledge of two or more Cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark and Spark runtime internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.
• Documentation and white-boarding skills.
• Experience working with enterprise clients and managing conflicts across stakeholders.
• Travel to customers 20% of the time.
• Databricks Certification - an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade projects by delivering reference architectures and data ingestion solutions.
• Guide strategic customers through end-to-end design, build and deployment of big data and AI apps.
• Bootstrap or implement customer projects that lead to adoption of Databricks platforms.
• Own architecture decisions for secure, scalable solutions aligned with customer needs.
• Work with the Databricks technical team, PM, Architect and customer teams to deliver components.
• Provide product and implementation feedback and guide rapid resolution for engagement-specific issues.
• Embed with customer teams to understand challenges and deliver impact.
• Contribute accelerators, frameworks, and best practices that scale across accounts.
