Job summary

PTR Global is partnering with a growing consumer products company seeking a Senior Formulation Chemist to support product innovation and improvement across Home Care and Personal Care formulations. This hands-on role will develop new formulations, conduct laboratory testing, and support scale-up from bench to manufacturing.

The schedule is four days onsite per week with some flexibility as needed; relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Develop new formulation prototypes and conduct laboratory testing to support product innovation and improvement.
• Formulate and optimize Home Care, Personal Care, Beauty, or related consumer products.
• Design and execute experiments using Design of Experiments (DOE), mixture experiments, and statistical approaches.
• Conduct stability, performance, and analytical testing and interpret results to identify opportunities for product improvement.
• Maintain detailed records of formulations, experiments, stability studies, analytical results, and development activities.
• Partner with Product Development, R&D, Manufacturing, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to support assigned projects.
• Participate in pilot and manufacturing trials and support scale-up from laboratory development through commercial production.
• Troubleshoot formulation and manufacturing challenges during development and scale-up.
• Support and maintain quality control procedures to ensure product consistency and reliability.
• Manage laboratory supplies, raw materials, and testing inventory.
• Maintain laboratory safety procedures in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Partner with suppliers and external organizations to evaluate new ingredients, raw materials, technologies, and industry developments.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
• Hands‑on experience developing and optimizing chemical‑based formulations.
• Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE), mixture experiments, and statistical approaches to formulation development.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities.
• Excellent documentation and recordkeeping skills.
• Strong communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of formulation and product development experience within Home Care, Personal Care, Beauty, or related consumer products.
• Direct experience formulating Home Care products such as:
• Laundry products
• Automatic dishwashing products
• Hard‑surface or household cleaning products
• Experience supporting product development from bench formulation through pilot and manufacturing scale‑up.
• Familiarity with statistical analysis tools such as JMP, including DOE, ANOVA, mixture design, and process control.

Ideal Background

The strongest candidates will have experience personally developing and troubleshooting formulations, running stability and performance testing, analyzing experimental results, and supporting products through scale‑up into manufacturing.

Experience working with ingredients such as surfactants, solvents, builders, polymers, chelants, enzymes, fragrances, preservatives, or other consumer‑product raw materials is highly relevant.
