Job summary

Forward Air is seeking a Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, stage, scan, and move freight within a multimodal terminal, intermodal yard, warehouse, or dock. Certified operators help maintain productivity and freight integrity.

The role includes mentoring newer Material Handlers, operating sit-down/stand-up forklifts and related MHE, and adhering to OSHA, PPE, and safety policies. Nights, weekends, and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain prior to operating equipment.
• 3+ years dock or warehouse experience.
• Ability to read freight documentation and understand labels.
• Basic arithmetic to verify counts and weights.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using forklifts and other MHE.
• Move, stage, and position freight between dock doors and warehouses.
• Pack, prepare items for shipping, and assist drivers.
• Scan and track freight for accuracy and documentation.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues to supervision.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and follow safety policies.
