Job summary

Norstella is seeking a Senior Forge AI Engineer to design and operate a greenfield autonomous agentic platform, Forge, spanning orchestration, multi-agent coordination, MCP server design, RAG pipelines, and safety primitives. Expected impact includes scalable agent memory, trust, and cost attribution at scale.

You will work across the full stack to ship production-grade solutions. You will engage with advanced AI safety practices, build tool-use APIs with strict contracts, and push the frontier

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience.
• Production experience with at least one agentic framework in production.
• Hands-on experience authoring MCP servers or designing tool-use APIs with explicit contracts.
• Experience with agent memory architectures and long-term memory stores.
• Strong Python and/or TypeScript fundamentals.
• Proficient in prompt engineering and multi-step orchestration.
• Knowledge of RAG patterns and LLM evaluation for production outputs.
• Familiarity with AI safety engineering (OWASP LLM Top 10, prompt injection defenses).

Responsibilities

• Design and build agents across the Forge chain: orchestration, tool-use surfaces, MCP server integrations, prompt and RAG pipelines, and design patterns.
• Own multi-agent coordination architecture and recovery strategies.
• Build and evolve the MCP server layer with versioning and contracts.
• Design agent memory and state management across multi-step workflows.
• Own agent quality with eval harnesses and continuous evaluation pipelines.
• Instrument observability: token tracing, cost attribution, and logging.
• Build safety primitives: least-privilege tool-use and PII/PHI handling.
