Job summary

Halliwell is seeking an experienced Senior Forensic Structural Engineer to join our Engineering Services team in Chicago, Illinois. This role focuses on forensic investigations, structural failure analysis, and building evaluations for commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities.

The ideal candidate holds an Illinois SE license (or eligibility) and has 5+ years of relevant experience, with strong report writing and client communication skills. Travel up to 15% is expected.

Qualifications

• Licensed Structural Engineer (S.E.) in Illinois or eligible to obtain licensure
• Minimum 5 years' experience in structural analysis, evaluation and design of buildings, bridges, industrial facilities or similar structures
• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering, or Architecture
• Master's degree is an advantage

Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate distress in structures and potential causes.
• Perform field investigations and structural analyses.
• Produce detailed forensic engineering reports with findings and repair recommendations.
• Collaborate with engineers and construction consultants on investigations.
• Mentor junior team members and receive mentorship from seniors.

Halliwell is seeking an experienced Senior Forensic Structural Engineer to join our Engineering Services team in Chicago, Illinois.

This opportunity is designed for a licensed Structural Engineer (S.E.) with expertise in forensic investigations, structural failure analysis and building evaluations. You will assess commercial, institutional and industrial structures throughout the region while working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary engineering team.

Candidates must hold (or be eligible to obtain) an Illinois Structural Engineer (S.E.) license.

Individual Responsibilities:

• Assess and evaluate the condition and potential causes of distress to structural buildings and facilities.
• Perform field investigations and structural analyses.
• Produce detailed forensic engineering reports, including findings and conceptual repair recommendations.

Team Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with engineers and construction consultants on forensic investigations.
• Receive mentorship from senior engineers while mentoring junior team members.

Business Development

• Develop and maintain client relationships through project delivery and regional business development activities.
