Job summary

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid Physician's and Surgeon's Certificate issued by the State of California and eligible for Forensic Pathologist Board Certification.
• Possession of the Forensic Pathologist Board Certification (for Level IV).
• Driver's License valid; California driver's license must be obtained within three months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Performs autopsies and evaluates investigations to determine cause and time of death.
• Collects trace evidence and submits samples for toxicology and other analyses.
• Writes detailed reports and testifies as an expert witness in court or inquests.
• Keeps informed of current techniques and conducts medicolegal research as assigned.
