Job summary

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation's Forensic Services seeks a Forensic Scientist III (Biological Sciences) to apply advanced analytical expertise to criminal cases. You will preserve and interpret physical evidence, conduct hands-on casework, and support QA/ISO compliance across a regional laboratory network in Denver, Pueblo, Grand Junction, or Greeley.

You will contribute to expert testimony, mentor junior staff, and uphold rigorous safety and quality standards in fast-paced investigations.

Qualifications

• Technical expertise in biological sciences forensic disciplines
• Ability to perform complex evidence analysis and chain of custody management
• Proficiency with LIMS and laboratory instrumentation
• Strong report writing, courtroom testimony, and expert communication skills
• Capability to train, mentor, and advise Forensic Scientist I/II level personnel

Responsibilities

• Preserves, analyzes, and interprets physical evidence from criminal cases
• Hands-on casework in one of four laboratories (Denver, Pueblo, Grand Junction, or Greeley)
• Maintains quality assurance and ISO/IEC 17025 compliance
• Provides expert testimony in court
• Mentors junior forensic scientists
