Job summary

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation Forensic Services is seeking a Forensic Scientist III to act as the technical expert in a forensic discipline and to manage evidence handling, testing, and reporting for criminal cases across Colorado.

Responsibilities include preserving evidence integrity, performing analyses under ISO/IEC 17025 guidelines, and providing expert courtroom testimony when needed. Candidates must have a science background and DNA experience.

Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in biology, chemistry, or another natural science field.
  • Minimum of two years of professional full-time forensic DNA analysis casework experience in a crime laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the chain of custody and security of evidence.
  • Perform technical analyses and interpret results.
  • Prepare accurate reports and provide expert testimony when required.
  • Train and mentor junior personnel.
  • Liaise with law enforcement partners and agencies.
