Job summary

The Hartford is seeking a Forensic Accountant Specialist to provide financial consulting to Commercial Property adjusters, enhancing outcomes of business income and extra expense claims within the Claims Excellence program.

Based at our Hartford, CT Home Office with hybrid/remote options nationwide, this role requires 10+ years in time element claims, CPA preferred, and strong analytical and communication skills to mentor others and improve customer service.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience measuring time element claims including business interruption, extra expenses, inventory and employee theft.
• Bachelor degree in Accounting; CPA preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; mentoring/training ability.

Responsibilities

• Lead forensic evaluation/analysis of time element, employee theft and inventory claims.
• Review large, catastrophic business income losses overseen at Hartford Home Office.
• Collaborate with property consultants to improve outcomes.
• Develop procedures to enhance customer service experiences.
• Assist in training internal property staff on forensics practices.
• Minimize reliance on external accountants for time element losses.
• Travel as needed to service internal and external customers.
• Provide team status reports to management and participate in improvement projects.
• Work with underwriting and product teams for commercial lines to provide SME input.
