Job summary

HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a full-time supervisor to lead semi-skilled and skilled trades, coordinate work, and drive training to improve quality and productivity. This role requires ensuring compliance with drawings and procedures, and managing activities with significant financial impact.

The ideal candidate has BS/Apprentice with 4 years of supervisor experience or a non-BS with 6 years of combined supervisory/CS experience. Travel is possible; relocation not provided.

Qualifications

• BS/Apprentice + 4 years production supervisor experience OR non-BS with 6 years combined production supervisory experience and/or CS experience.
• Supervises, coordinates and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel; recommends training to enhance skill and productivity.
• Breaks broad strategies down to practical action plans and ensures employees are trained to perform these plans.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, assigns, coordinates and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel according to their skill, experience and job knowledge.
• Supervises and trains employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed. Recommends training to enhance skill and productivity of employees, and assists in development of training procedures.
• Breaks broad strategies down to practical action plans and ensures employees are trained to perform these plans. Responsible for complying with all technical aspects of the job including adherence to all drawings, procedures, etc.
