Job summary

Universal Stainless in Dunkirk, NY, seeks a General Foreman Maintenance/Refractory to lead safety-focused maintenance and refractory work across the Dunkirk facility. You will drive planning, coordinating and executing critical tasks with contractors, ensuring compliance and equipment reliability.

The role requires strong front-line leadership, 5S mindset and experience with CMMS systems, to deliver cost-effective and timely repairs while coordinating with Operations and Engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Strong planning, scheduling and prioritization.
• Proven ability to manage outages and outages planning.
• Hands-on maintenance and refractory knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Safety and compliance: enforce safety rules and PPE requirements.
• Lead pre-job planning, risk assessment and field verifications.
• Coordinate maintenance work with plant operating needs.
• Plan, schedule and close out maintenance and refractory tasks.
• Drive equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
• Oversee refractory inspection, repair and installation.
• Manage manpower and contractor coordination.
• Coordinate parts, tools and materials for outages.
• Control costs and improve maintenance productivity.
• Document work orders and maintain records in CMMS.
• Lead continuous improvement and 5S efforts.
• Collaborate with Operations, Safety and Quality.
