CGS is seeking a Senior FOIA Paralegal to join our team supporting the legal mission of a large federal agency. This position involves performing legal review and FOIA request processing, among other litigation support tasks.

Skills And Attributes For Success
  • Conduct searches, analyze results, and distinguish non-responsive from responsive documents; screen documents for privilege or FOIA exemptions.
  • Redact and code responsive documents.
  • Perform legal research.
  • Draft legal documents.
Qualifications
  • Paralegal certificate, JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year of study.
  • Minimum one year of litigation paralegal experience; trial experience is advantageous.
  • Experience with Nuix Investigate, Relativity, or other eDiscovery tools is strongly desired.
  • Experience processing FOIA requests and knowledge of FOIA rules and exemptions.
  • Basic legal knowledge, including citation checking and legal research using LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency with computer applications such as word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.

Familiarity with ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures is also required.

  • Ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure.
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Ability to work independently and obtain a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years’ experience with Nuix Investigate for document review and tagging.
  • Two years’ experience processing FOIA requests for federal agencies.
  • Knowledge of FOIA statutory and regulatory guidelines.
