Job summary

Skyryse seeks a Chief Engineer to own the architectural vision and execution of our fly-by-wire flight control system, coordinating across software, hardware, and flight operations to meet safety and regulatory requirements.

You will work directly with the CEO, VP of Engineering, and VP of Certification to drive SkyOS certification on the R66, leading trade-off decisions and ensuring robust design through certification milestones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering or equivalent
• Master's degree or PhD preferred in related field
• Experience in full-cycle engineering and certification processes
• Experience with aviation certification requirements and evidence demanded

Responsibilities

• Lead technical project planning across engineering disciplines.
• Coordinate cross-functional execution across software, hardware, systems, and program management.
• Identify technical risks early and implement mitigation strategies.
• Develop and maintain architectural vision for fly-by-wire systems meeting safety and performance requirements.
• Elicit and document system requirements and translate them into design specs.
• Make data-informed design decisions and defend trade-offs.
• Review technical documentation, design artifacts, and test plans.
• Partner with certification organization to support certification basis.
• Serve as primary technical contact for leadership, suppliers, and regulators.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering

Master's degree or PhD in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering
