Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Staff Fluids Systems Engineer to join the Omen Team at our Costa Mesa HQ. You will own the design, development, and qualification of fluids systems for a Group 3 autonomous air vehicle, coordinating with propulsion, structures, avionics, and software teams.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in aerospace fluids, strong CAD and system-level analysis skills, and hands-on experience with fuel, hydraulics, and thermal management.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in a technical engineering role focusing on aircraft or aerospace fluids systems.
• Strong knowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluids system design, testing, and qualification.
• Hands-on experience designing, building, and testing fluids systems hardware and integrating into flight vehicles.
• Experience with CAD and plumbing routing for flight vehicles.
• Familiarity with aerospace standards (SAE AS, MIL-STD, AS9100) for fluids components and systems.

Responsibilities

• Own design, development, and qualification of fluids systems from concept to low-rate production.
• Define system requirements and architectures; perform trade studies; establish verification methods.
• Perform system-level analysis: pressure drop, flow distribution, thermal balance, transient response, water hammer, slosh, two-phase flow, CFD.
• Collaborate with propulsion, structures, electrical, avionics, controls, and software teams to integrate fluids systems.
• Specify, source, and qualify pumps, valves, actuators, accumulators, heat exchangers, lines, fittings, seals, filters, and tanks.
• Lead design reviews; conduct rig and aircraft-level testing; visit vendors; develop hardware test plans.
• Define and own fuel system architecture for tail-sitter operation including CoG management, vent and pressurization, unusable fuel characterization.
• Support thermal management of propulsion, avionics, and payload heat loads during hover, transition, cruise.
• Contribute to tools, templates, processes, and standards for fluids engineering.
• Foster a positive, high-energy team environment.
• Balance operations across subsystems to optimize development speed, mass, manufacturability, cost.
• Support hardware demonstrations with customers; travel to test sites and vendors.
