Job summary

Shield AI seeks an experienced Flight Test Engineer to plan, execute, and analyze advanced flight test operations for next-gen aircraft systems. You will collaborate across engineering, operations, autonomy, and manufacturing to ensure rigorous testing and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM).
• 5+ years in ground/flight test with unmanned/manned aircraft systems or aerospace engineering.
• Strong understanding of aircraft systems, flight dynamics and avionics.
• Proven ability to write and execute structured test plans and reports.
• Willingness to travel and work outdoors; U.S. Citizenship with active Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop, publish, and execute flight test plans, procedures, safety reviews.
• Support integration and test of aircraft systems, data links, and ground control.
• Lead pre-flight, flight, and post-flight activities including telemetry and data collection.
• Analyze flight test data to identify trends, anomalies, root causes, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with engineering to validate requirements and troubleshoot issues.
• Lead test range operations, safety briefings, and go/no-go decisions.
• Document test results, lessons learned, and recommendations in reports.
• Support aircraft maintenance and system readiness.
• Create and maintain flight test processes and data workflows.
