Job summary

Arcfield is seeking a Principal Flight Software Architect to lead the Orion Space Systems principal engineer office, overseeing software design excellence for spacecraft and payload products in Colorado and beyond. This role reports to the Senior Director of Engineering and drives architecture across all missions.

Responsibilities include architecture development for flight and ground software, embedded processing system design, and leading design reviews with internal teams and customers to

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or computation with 16–18 years of experience; MS 14+ years; PhD 10+ years.
• Extensive experience with space processing architecture including micro-controllers, processors, SoC and GPUs.
• Deep knowledge of embedded systems, OS, RTOS and C/C++.
• Experience across all development phases from requirements to sustainment.

Responsibilities

• Architecture development of complex flight and ground software for all missions and products.
• Develop complex applications for embedded processing systems using micro-controllers, processors, GPUs and SoC.
• Lead design for excellence methods and processes, design artifacts, code reviews and management balancing cost and schedule.
• Lead internal and external design reviews and present complex technical topics to customers.
