Job summary

Muon Space seeks a Senior Flight Dynamics Software Engineer to own end-to-end workstreams in our flight dynamics platform, from architecture through production rollout. You will mentor engineers and represent FD in cross-team forums, driving robust orbit determination and maneuver planning across the MuFDS system.

Qualifications include 5+ years in flight dynamics software and strong C++/Python skills, with a track record in propulsion maneuvers and Linux-based development.

Qualifications

• BS or higher in aerospace engineering, astrodynamics, physics, applied math, or related field; MS preferred.
• 5+ years in flight dynamics software development and operations.
• Hands-on planning and reconstruction of propulsive maneuvers for operational LEO spacecraft.
• Strong proficiency in C++ and Python with production-level contributions.
• Solid grounding in orbital mechanics, propagation, orbit determination, maneuver design.
• Ability to lead across functional boundaries and communicate with non-FD stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Linux-based development, version control, code review, and automated testing.

Responsibilities

• Own major MuFDS workstreams end-to-end from architecture to deployment.
• Drive architecture and design decisions for cross-team flight dynamics capabilities.
• Support on-orbit propulsion operations and commissioning campaigns.
• Lead operational response for orbit determination and maneuver anomalies.
• Represent flight dynamics in reviews and with external partners.
• Advance the OD pipeline toward advanced methods and robust dynamics modeling.
• Mentor engineers on flight dynamics and Muon's ground systems.
