Job summary

Archer is seeking a Lead Flight Controls & Software Engineer for Special Programs in San Jose, CA. You will lead control law design, flight dynamics, and embedded autopilot software for prototype vehicles, guiding architecture and testing from concept through flight test.

You will own the controls discipline within Special Programs and assess feasibility of new opportunities. Required: 8–12 years of relevant experience or equivalent in rapid-prototyping/advanced programs, U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, controls, electrical, or computer engineering is required.
• Experience in flight control law development, flight dynamics, or stability and control analysis for aerospace platforms is required.
• Experience developing embedded flight control or autopilot software is required.
• Familiarity with control design, simulation, and embedded software development tools is desirable.
• Ability to work across the full development lifecycle — concept through prototype — in a fast-paced environment is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead flight control law design and analysis for prototype vehicles, including control law development and flight dynamics modeling.
• Lead development of embedded flight control and autopilot software from architecture through implementation and flight test support.
• Support rapid prototyping end-to-end from concept modeling to hardware-in-the-loop testing and flight test support.
• Own the flight controls and software discipline within Special Programs, setting technical approach and analysis methods.
• Conduct feasibility assessments of new opportunities, evaluating viability and required approaches.
