Job summary

East Coast Facilities, Inc. seeks a Lead Mechanic to oversee a fleet of trucks, heavy equipment, and small engines within a regional division. This leadership role requires broad mechanical expertise, diagnostic skills, and hands-on oversight.

You will mentor mechanics, enforce safety policies, schedule repairs, and handle advanced diagnostics, fabrication, and welding. Travel for out-of-state projects and surge operations may be required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years mechanical repair experience (fleet, diesel, small engine)
• Proven leadership overseeing teams
• Broad expertise in mechanical repair, preventive maintenance, fabrication, diagnosis/troubleshooting
• Fluent in English (spoken and written)
• Valid driver’s license
• Willing to fly commercially for out-of-state/surge operations
• Proficient with smartphone for communication/documentation
• Able to pass background and drug tests
• Complies with ethics, confidentiality, laws/regulations
• ASE Certification is preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead scheduled and unscheduled repairs ensuring safe, professional execution
• Enforce company safety policies without exception
• Operate and test equipment for fleet maintenance
• Drive company vehicles as needed
• Conduct advanced diagnostics on engines, transmissions, hydraulics and electrical systems
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently
• Oversee fabrication, welding, and component reconstruction
• Mentor Mechanics and Shop Technicians on maintenance tasks
• Oversee winter equipment maintenance/repairs
• Maintain shop organization and documentation
