Job summary

City of Wichita seeks a skilled supervisor for maintenance and mechanical repair of city vehicles and equipment. You will plan, assign, and review the work of mechanics and attendants, while performing diagnostic and repair tasks as needed.

Responsibilities include scheduling, parts management, and ensuring quality repairs through testing and documentation. Strong computer skills and safety awareness are required.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of standard practices, methods, tools and equipment used in vehicular maintenance.
• Ability to plan, organize, and supervise the work of others.
• Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and supervises the work of employees.
• Helps diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues.
• Estimates time and materials required for repairs.
• Reviews parts requirements and orders replacement parts.
• Inspects machinery and equipment to identify repair needs.
• Coordinates with storeroom for parts and materials.
• Uses CMMS to maintain records and generate reports.
• Evaluates procedures to improve productivity and efficiency.
• Ensures quality repairs through re-inspection and road testing.
• Performs other related duties as needed.
