Mobile Air & Power Rentals in Tampa, FL is seeking a Senior Fixed Asset Accountant to manage fixed assets from acquisition to disposal, including capitalization, depreciation, and transfers. You will ensure accurate asset records and compliance with U.S.

GAAP. This role partners with Finance, Operations, and Procurement, supports month-end close and audits, and delivers asset utilization analysis, capital forecasting, and reporting to leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in accounting or finance.
• 3–6+ years of fixed asset accounting experience with capitalization, depreciation, transfers, disposals, reconciliations, and reporting under U.S. GAAP.
• Experience with construction-in-progress and project costing preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems and reporting tools (Infor, Power BI) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own fixed asset accounting from acquisition through disposal, including capitalization, construction-in-progress, depreciation, transfers, improvements, and retirements.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and supporting documentation.
• Calculate and record depreciation and amortization per U.S. GAAP.
• Prepare and post fixed asset journal entries (additions, disposals, depreciation, impairments).
• Reconcile fixed asset subledgers to GL and investigate discrepancies.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
• Coordinate asset counts and reconcile results to schedules.
• Prepare asset reports and analyses for management, including utilization reporting.
• Lead capital expenditure processes and forecast future asset needs.
• Present findings to C-suite and leadership; support audits and internal controls.

Purpose:

The Senior Fixed Asset Accountant will manage the accounting and analysis of fixed assets throughout their full lifecycle. This role is responsible for project/job costing, asset capitalization, depreciation, transfers, improvements, disposals, reconciliations, and reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP. The position will also serve as a key resource for asset utilization reporting, capital asset forecasting, and planning within our growing, asset-intensive organization.

This role will support month-end close, audits, cost analysis, internal controls, personal property tax reporting, ad-hoc analysis, and process improvements related to fixed assets while partnering closely with Finance, Operations, and Procurement.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Own fixed asset accounting from acquisition through disposal, including capitalization, construction-in-progress, depreciation, transfers, improvements, and retirements.
• Maintain accurate fixed asset registers, rental unit schedules, and supporting documentation.
• Calculate and record depreciation and amortization in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Prepare and post journal entries related to fixed assets, including additions, disposals, depreciation, impairments, and adjustments.
• Reconcile fixed asset subledgers to the general ledger and investigate discrepancies.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
• Maintain documentation related to asset ownership, registrations, equipment records, and other supporting records.
• Coordinate periodic fixed asset and unit cycle counts and reconcile results to unit schedules.
• Prepare fixed asset reports, schedules, and analysis for management, including asset utilization reporting.
• Own capital expenditure processes, including capital model reporting and forecasting future asset needs.
• Present findings, analysis, and recommendations to C-suite and other executive leadership.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing fixed asset schedules and supporting documentation.
• Assist with internal controls and physical asset inventories.
• Prepare personal property tax data to support state and local filing deadlines.
• Partner with Operations, Procurement, and Finance teams to ensure accurate and timely asset accounting.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• 3–6+ years of accounting experience with direct fixed asset accounting experience, including capitalization, depreciation, asset transfers, disposals, reconciliations, and fixed asset reporting.
• Experience with construction-in-progress and project/job costing preferred.
• Experience or exposure to rental businesses where asset utilization is a key performance indicator preferred.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP required.
• Experience with SOX controls, compliance, or audit support preferred.
• Experience with ERP and/or fixed asset accounting systems and reporting tools, such as Infor and Power BI, preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• CPA track preferred, but not required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and all levels of the organization.
