Job summary

Tom A. Finch Community YMCA is seeking a SilverSneakers Instructor to plan and lead safe, engaging fitness classes for older adults at the Tom A. Finch Community YMCA location. The role emphasizes adaptations for varying fitness levels and fostering social connection within the member community.

The position requires SilverSneakers certification or the ability to obtain it, CPR/First Aid, and completion of YMCA trainings. Part-time, on-site with YMCA benefits and access to programs.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• SilverSneakers instructor certification/training required or obtained as directed by YMCA.
• Experience working with older adults or teaching group exercise preferred.
• Must complete online trainings including Bloodborne Pathogens and Child Abuse Prevention.
• CPR/First Aid certification must be maintained.
• Must pass criminal background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare safe, engaging SilverSneakers class routines for older adults with varying fitness levels.
• Demonstrate proper exercise techniques with clear verbal and visual instruction.
• Foster member interaction to build community and engagement.
• Start and end classes on time.
• Maintain equipment and ensure a safe exercise area.
