Job summary

Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission seeks a Fishery Biologist 3 - Ecologist to lead quantitative analyses at the WFRC, Columbia River Research Laboratory. The role centers on advanced statistics, IPMs, and telemetry-based population estimates within a collaborative team.

You will co-author peer-reviewed papers, present results to managers and interagency partners, and mentor junior staff while guiding cross-disciplinary research efforts.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Fisheries Science, Quantitative Ecology, Biometrics, Applied Statistics, or closely related field.
• Advanced quantitative methods including Bayesian inference, mark-recapture, IPMs, and spatial/temporal modeling.
• Proficiency in quantitative programming environments (R) and Bayesian software for complex modeling.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex statistical analyses of fish populations across regional aquatic systems.
• Develop and extend integrated population models and apply mark-recapture methods to telemetry data.
• Publish and report high-impact peer-reviewed papers and technical reports.
