Job summary

Micron Technology in Colorado is seeking a Firmware Verification Engineer to design and execute validation plans for NVMe-based enterprise SSD firmware. You will develop Python-based tests, apply AI-assisted automation, and collaborate with firmware and AI teams to improve reliability.

You will analyze weekly regressions, perform root-cause analysis, and document findings. A strong background in Python, testing, and ML fundamentals is required, with a passion for advancing storage technology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with approximately 9 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 7 years of related work.
• Proficiency in Python; familiarity with NumPy, Pandas, and basic scikit-learn usage.
• Strong testing fundamentals and test automation knowledge.
• Demonstrated interest in AI, AI tools, or leveraging AI in software development and data analysis.
• Foundational understanding of LLMs, prompt engineering, or AI-driven workflows.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute firmware verification plans for NVMe protocols in enterprise SSDs, focusing on front-end features like SMART, Trim, Get Log Page, and OCP.
• Design and implement grey-box, white-box, and black-box test methodologies to verify firmware functionality and robustness.
• Analyze weekly regression failures, perform root-cause analysis, and document findings with guidance from senior engineers.
• Contribute to test development, automation, and reporting within established FPT frameworks.
• Communicate test results, challenges, and mitigation plans to firmware, cross-functional teams, and management.
• Participate in code reviews and help improve test coverage and code quality.
• AI-Assisted Test Automation: develop Python-based test scripts and data-collection tools; apply AI/ML techniques to improve efficiency.
• Data & ML Exposure: assist in applying ML for anomaly detection or failure-pattern identification from test data.
• Collaborate with firmware engineers, test developers, and AI/ML contributors to continually improve product reliability.
• Leverage AI-enabled development tools to improve testing, debugging, and validation coverage.
