Job summary

Neros is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer on the Platform team in Torrance, CA. You will own the common runtime, libraries, SDK, and build system that support flight, ground-station, and autonomy software across MCU and Linux targets.

You will design interfaces, drive efficient build processes, and mentor others while solving hard platform challenges that bridge engineering teams. This role requires hands-on coding and shipping impact.

Qualifications

• Mastery of embedded C on shipped products across MCU/RTOS and embedded Linux.
• Built platform code used by multiple teams (libraries, SDKs, or protocols) and kept them stable.
• Hands-on ownership of an embedded build system with cross-compilation, dependency management, and build reproducibility.
• Track record of solving hard bugs that surface in firmware platforms.
• Strong resource-constrained design judgment for compute, memory, and bandwidth.
• Debugging mastery and a history of shipping code.

Responsibilities

• Own the common runtime and libraries used by firmware teams on MCU-based systems and Linux targets.
• Own the build system and cross-compile toolchain for fast, reproducible builds across all targets.
• Design and maintain interfaces that other teams depend on, keeping them stable as platform evolves.
• Solve hard, ambiguous problems at the platform-consumer intersection.
• Drive resource trade-offs when subsystems compete for budget.
• Raise firmware engineering standards through patterns, code reviews, and mentoring.
