Job summary

Proper Voltage Inc. is seeking an experienced embedded firmware engineer to lead real-time control for four-switch buck-boost DC/DC stages. You will implement compensators, mode arbitration, and safety features within a portable MCU-agnostic control library.

You will verify firmware against control designs, ensure deterministic timing, and drive hardware bring-up with emphasis on certification-ready documentation and test evidence.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent demonstrated capability.
• Six or more years developing production embedded firmware in C for real-time systems.
• Production firmware on switched-mode power converters, inverters, or motor drives with known specs.
• Strong understanding of PID and discrete control, sampling delays, and saturation/anti-windup.
• Fluency with high-resolution PWM, ADC, DAC, and DMA peripherals used in digital power.

Responsibilities

• Implement compensators and control loops in C with fixed-point or single-precision arithmetic.
• Verify firmware against the control model with closed-loop tests and tolerance checks.
• Architect and maintain the control ISR and scheduler with deterministic timing.
• Configure PWM, ADC, comparators, and DAC triggers with precise timing relative to switching.
• Measure system delays on hardware and feed results to controls engineers.
• Implement operating mode arbitration and protection paths per specifications.
• Bring up new converter hardware in the lab from first switch to full envelope tests.
• Develop unit tests and hardware-in-the-loop regression to prevent regressions.
• Author firmware specifications and verification evidence for certifications.
