Job Summary

As the Senior Firmware Engineer, the primary function is to develop firmware for a broad portfolio of new and existing embedded lighting controls. This includes solving complex technical issues to support our customers and working with manufacturing to bring our products to market.

Key Tasks
  • Responsible for modifying existing firmware and developing new firmware for wired and wireless lighting controls
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting complex technical issues in a team environment, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions
  • Support the field service and product manufacturing group(s)
  • Responsible for modifying existing products to customize functionality according to customer requirements
  • Write unit tests and test automation scripts, collaborate with quality assurance department on new test automation functionality
  • Actively participate in cross functional design teams to deliver new or redesigned products
  • Responsible for creating firmware specification and design documentation
  • Participate in cross functional development of firmware validation test plans
  • Responsible for evaluation of electronic components and making design recommendations regarding new product designs and potential improvements to existing products
Required Experience and Knowledge
  • Embedded C Programming (3+ years)
  • Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and follow schematics
  • Previous experience and use of RTOS (Real Time Operating Systems)
  • Must work well independently and in a team environment, be detail oriented, thorough in investigation, and produce robust solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to devise novel technical solutions, lateral thinking (applying known solutions to new problems in related fields), willingness to challenge existing practice (technical, testing, manufacturing process), willingness to add new functionalities to existing products or to start entire new product categories
  • Excellent communication skills
Educational Background
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience
Preferred Experience
  • 5+ years of embedded C programming experience
  • Direct experience in Lighting Controls or LED Driver development or Building Automation or HVAC Control Products
  • Hardware design experience
  • Python programming for test automation
  • IP research and analysis
