Job summary

Blue Origin in the United States seeks a senior embedded firmware engineer to develop low-level firmware for secure enclaves in custom ASICs within the TeraWave system. You will collaborate with ASIC, hardware, security, software, and system teams to ensure secure boot, provisioning, operation, updates, and recovery throughout the silicon lifecycle.

Bring your experience with C/C++, bootloaders, device drivers, and security concepts like root of trust and cryptographic key management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of embedded software/firmware experience for complex SoCs/ASICs.
• Strong C/C++ and low-level firmware development experience.
• Experience bootloaders, ROM code, board-support software, device drivers.
• Knowledge of secure boot, root of trust, cryptographic key management, and secure firmware updates.
• Familiarity with ARM or RISC‑V architectures and pre/post-silicon bring-up.

Responsibilities

• Develop ROM code, bootloaders, and runtime firmware for secure enclaves within custom ASICs.
• Design and implement firmware for secure boot, device attestation, and root-of-trust functionality.
• Develop OTA update and secure firmware lifecycle management infrastructure.
• Support manufacturing provisioning including device identity, keys, and secure configuration.
• Develop and support secure debugging, telemetry, tamper monitoring, and recovery mechanisms.
• Collaborate with ASIC, security, software, and system teams to define interfaces and security requirements.
• Support pre-silicon firmware development and validation using simulation, emulation, FPGA, etc.
• Assist silicon bring-up, debugging, validation, and production deployment of secure-enclave firmware.
• Produce high-quality embedded software with unit tests, code reviews, and documentation.
