Job summary

Motorola Solutions is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer in San Diego to design and develop reliable software for our ARM-based Linux systems. You will own features, drive verification, and write documentation while collaborating across mobile, backend, hardware and firmware teams to deliver secure, scalable products.

The role requires 5+ years of C/C++ experience, RTOS familiarity, and strong debugging skills, with a U.S. work authorization. Competitive salary and benefits apply.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience programming in C or C++.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• RTOS experience with Zephyr and FreeRTOS.
• Ability to analyze and debug existing code.
• Experience with CI/CD workflows.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to juggle priorities.
• Familiarity with JIRA, Zendesk, and TestRail.
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop reliable software for embedded systems and hardware interface services in Linux.
• Own code including verification testing and documentation.
• Develop new features in Python and Golang for system services on Debian/ARM.
• Collaborate with QA to design and run test scripts for lifecycle, unit, and regression tests.
• Coordinate with mobile, backend, hardware and firmware teams to craft new products.
• Create and manage Linux drivers and test security communications protocols.
• Support manufacturing efforts and provide technical input for customer issues.
