Job summary

Brightstar Lottery in West Greenwich, RI is seeking a highly experienced Firmware Engineer specializing in image processing to join the Retail Channel Engineering team. You will design and optimize firmware for lottery products, focusing on high-performance C/C++ and computer vision techniques, including OCR/OMR and barcode recognition.

The role requires 8+ years in C/C++ software, deep knowledge of image processing, and experience with OpenCV and DL frameworks.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
8+ years of experience developing software solutions using C/C++.
Proven experience designing and implementing computer vision and image processing algorithms.
Strong understanding of image analysis, pattern recognition, machine learning, and deep learning concepts.
Experience with OpenCV and deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and/or PyTorch.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain high-performance software and embedded applications using C and C++.
Design and optimize computer vision and image processing solutions, including OCR, OMR, barcode recognition, and multispectral imaging technologies.
Enhance image and video quality through advanced mathematical, statistical, and computational techniques.
Apply machine learning and deep learning methodologies to improve image recognition, classification, and processing capabilities.
Build, curate, and manage image datasets used for training, validation, and performance evaluation of AI models.
Train, evaluate, and deploy machine learning models using frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and OpenCV.
Analyze and optimize solution performance, balancing accuracy, reliability, latency, and resource utilization.
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, including software, hardware, systems, and data science, to deliver integrated solutions.
Research and evaluate emerging technologies in computer vision, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to drive innovation across Brightstar's product portfolio.
