Job summary

Firefly Aerospace, Inc. is seeking a Principal Firmware Engineer to shape firmware for launch vehicles, spacecraft, and ground systems.

You will own complex architectures, drive technical decisions, and mentor engineers while implementing firmware across hardware and software interfaces. The role demands deep embedded firmware expertise, system thinking, and the ability to influence across teams in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/EE/CE/Aerospace required.
• 10+ years of embedded firmware experience.
• Strong C/C++ on bare-metal, RTOS or embedded Linux.
• Proficient with MCUs, ARM architectures and low-level interfaces.
• Experience architecting firmware and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own firmware architectures for critical avionics systems.
• Design, implement and debug firmware in C/C++ for embedded targets.
• Lead design reviews and set coding/verification standards.
• Collaborate with hardware, FPGA, GNC, systems and software teams.
• Drive reliability practices, configuration management, and V&V.
