Job summary

SkyePoint Decisions seeks a Network Engineer to support a Department of State customer, focusing on perimeter security devices, firewalls, proxies, and mail security. The role includes monitoring, configuration, and troubleshooting across Palo Alto, FortiGate, Azure, and other platforms.

Hybrid schedule (~3 days onsite; training period fully onsite initially). Candidates must be a U.S. citizen with interim Secret clearance ability and are located in/around Beltsville, MD or Springfield, VA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in IT/CS with 5+ years of experience or Master’s with 3+ years.
• Deep experience with Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama for troubleshooting and configuration.
• 3–5 years IT customer support experience (Tier I/II).
• Experience with Firewall/DMZ infrastructure and packet filtering technologies.
• CLI experience preferred and familiarity with network monitoring tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 2 support for perimeter devices including firewalls, proxies, and mail security appliances.
• Monitor Service Now for firewall operations incidents and service requests.
• Implement firewall rules, troubleshoot devices (Palo Alto, FortiGate, ESA, A10, proxies).
• Collaborate across bureaus to implement and repair network changes for perimeter security.
• Support CIRT by blocking IPs, websites, and email addresses as needed.
• Draft outage notifications and maintain SOPs and logs.
