Job summary

Walther Manufacturing seeks a Senior Design Engineer with proven firearm design experience to own new product design and redesign existing products. You will lead 3D modeling, drawings, validation plans, and DFx processes while mentoring junior engineers and guiding cross-functional teams.

The role requires five+ years in design engineering in a manufacturing setting, extensive firearms design knowledge, and proficiency with SolidWorks; GA/VE, FMEA, LEAN, and Six Sigma are preferred.)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Five or more years' experience in design engineering in a manufacturing setting.
  • Extensive knowledge in designing firearms.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks; simulation experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of FMEA, VA/VE, LEAN methodologies, Six Sigma preferred.
  • GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
  • Ability to read and interpret reports, specifications, and standards.
  • Strong problem solving and communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead 3D modeling, mechanical drawings, timelines, validation plans, DFx, and simulation.
  • Lead design of new firearms platforms, components, and accessories.
  • Mentor junior engineers and guide cross-functional teams.
  • Design, prototype, and test firearms and related accessories.
  • Present design reviews and test results to management.
  • Collaborate with product development, sales, and marketing to define new products.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to define standards.
  • Support product from design through launch and optimize production tests.
