Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Design Engineer to join our industry-leading, employee-owned team in Los Angeles. You will design and implement fire protection solutions for commercial buildings, using NFPA codes, BIM, and CAD tools.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in the field, a mechanical or fire protection background, NICET is a plus, and the ability to travel to job sites. We offer competitive pay, full benefits, 401k match, and stock after year one.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in fire sprinkler design in the construction industry.
• Proficient in NFPA codes, CAD Drafting, Hydraulic Calculations, Seismic Bracing, and Fire Pump Layout.
• Experience with Commercial Fire Sprinkler systems, BIM Design, Clash Detection, HydraCAD, AutoSPRINK, and NICET.
• Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes related to fire safety.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and ability to present complex technical information clearly.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team; valid driver's license and travel to sites.

Responsibilities

• Design and layout of fire sprinkler systems using CAD software.
• Perform hydraulic calculations to optimize system performance.
• Interpret and apply NFPA codes and standards to project designs.
• Coordinate with architects and engineers to integrate systems into building design.
• Prepare reports and drawings and present design proposals to clients.
• Use BIM Design and Clash Detection to identify and resolve design issues.
• Design and layout of fire pump systems per standards.
• Utilize HydraCAD and AutoSPRINK effectively.
• Stay updated on new technologies and industry trends.
• Ensure all designs comply with health and safety guidelines.
