Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Design Engineer to join its Southern California team. You will design and implement fire sprinkler systems for projects of various sizes, ensuring NFPA compliance and optimal hydraulic performance.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering and at least 5 years in the field. You will work with architects and contractors, using HydraCAD and AutoSPRINK, with opportunities for growth and stock options after the first

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Fire Protection Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of fire sprinkler design experience in the construction industry.
  • Proficient in NFPA codes, CAD drafting, hydraulic calculations, seismic bracing, and fire pump layout.
  • Experience with Commercial Fire Sprinkler systems, BIM Design, Clash Detection, HydraCAD, AutoSPRINK, and NICET.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes related to fire safety.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Design and layout of fire sprinkler systems using specialized software.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations to ensure optimal performance of systems.
  • Interpret and apply NFPA codes and standards to design projects.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and construction team to integrate fire sprinkler systems into overall building design.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and drawings and present design proposals to clients and stakeholders.
  • Use BIM Design and Clash Detection to identify and resolve potential issues in the design phase.
  • Design and layout of fire pump systems in accordance with the standards.
  • Utilize HydraCAD, AutoSPRINK, and other design software effectively.
  • Continuously update knowledge on new technologies and industry trends to enhance service offerings.
  • Ensure all designs comply with legal health and safety guidelines.

Job Details

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of professionals.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various job sites as needed.
  • NICET certification in Fire Protection Engineering Technology – Water‑Based (formerly Automatic Sprinkler) Systems Layout is a plus.
