Job summary

Dudek seeks an experienced Fire Protection Planner to lead spatial wildfire analyses and ensure QA/QC across modeling efforts. You’ll set data standards, guide modeling workflows, and translate results into defensible recommendations for fire protection plans and CEQA/NEPA studies.

You will collaborate with GIS, environmental planners, engineers, and clients, mentoring staff and helping scale advanced fire modeling to statewide projects while balancing timelines and budgets in a flexible

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in fire science, forestry, fire ecology, or related field; advanced degree may substitute.
5+ years of wildfire science, fire behavior analysis, or geospatial analytics experience.
Strong understanding of fire behavior, fuels, weather, and topography interactions.
Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro or QGIS and large geospatial datasets.
Experience designing QA/QC procedures and reviewing analytical work.

Responsibilities

Lead spatial fire behavior modeling, including model selection and design.
Parameterize and interpret landscape-scale wildfire analyses using FlamMap, FARSITE, FSPro, IFTDSS or equivalents.
Develop model inputs (fuels, weather, topography) and ensure reproducible workflows.
Mentor staff and coordinate with GIS, environmental planners, and engineers.
Translate results into defensible reports and fire protection plans for regulatory review.
