Job summary

McMillen, Inc. seeks a Senior Fire Protection Project Engineer to oversee complex fire protection projects from concept through completion, providing technical leadership, client engagement, and project management.

This client-facing role requires strong communication, the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, and travel 10–25% for client and project needs.

Design and ensure code compliance with NFPA and other standards while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
• 15–18 years of progressive experience in fire protection engineering and project management
• Fire Protection Engineering Licensure (PE)
• Knowledge of industry standards and safety standards (NFPA, NEC, NESC, UL, UFC, UFGS)
• Willingness to travel 10–25% for client and project needs

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design, and execution of complex fire protection engineering projects.
• Serve as the primary client interface, cultivating and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Manage all phases of project delivery, including scope, budget, schedule, and quality.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure project success.
• Provide technical leadership in fire protection system design and code compliance.
• Mentor and support junior engineers and project staff.
• Represent the firm in client meetings and industry events.
