The Role

The Senior Fire Protection Engineer - Mission Critical will design fire protection systems for mission-critical facilities, ensuring safety, reliability, and performance. The role requires extensive fire protection engineering experience, understanding of challenges in mission-critical environments, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver compliant, innovative, and cost-effective solutions. Experience in designing fire protection systems for data centers, telecom facilities, and high-security environments is essential.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead design, implementation, and coordination of fire protection systems for mission-critical facilities.
2. Design and specify advanced fire protection systems, including suppression, alarm, smoke detection, and emergency systems.
3. Perform detailed calculations and assessments of fire suppression system effectiveness.
4. Develop and maintain design criteria, specifications, and documentation ensuring compliance with standards (NFPA, IBC, UL, local codes).
5. Collaborate with other disciplines and architects for seamless integration.
6. Conduct risk assessments and system evaluations.
7. Oversee system commissioning, testing, and inspections.
8. Provide technical support during construction and address on-site issues.
9. Mentor junior engineers and foster professional growth.
10. Stay updated with industry trends and emerging practices.
11. Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
12. Prepare reports, documentation, and presentations for stakeholders and regulators.
13. Ensure safety, operational continuity, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related; Master’s preferred.
2. 8-12 years of experience in fire protection engineering, focusing on mission-critical facilities.
3. PE license required; CFPS or similar certifications preferred.
4. Deep knowledge of fire protection systems for mission-critical applications.
5. Expertise in relevant codes and standards (NFPA, IBC, UL, local codes).
6. Proficiency with design software (AutoCAD, Revit, HydraCAD) and hydraulic calculations.
7. Experience with commissioning, testing, and inspections.
8. Ability to perform risk assessments for critical infrastructure.
9. Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, teams, and regulators.
10. Strong project management skills for handling multiple projects.
11. Experience designing fire protection for large data centers or similar facilities.
12. Knowledge of advanced suppression technologies (FM-200, Novec, inert gases).
13. Familiarity with BIM and sustainable fire protection solutions.
14. Experience working in international markets is a plus.
