Senior Fire Protection Engineer - Discipline Lead

Chantilly, VA (hybrid)

exp Federal is an established full-service architectural and engineering firm providing design solutions and construction support to the federal government. Our team operates in challenging environments, supporting various governmental agencies globally.

The Challenge:
We are seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) - Discipline Lead to join our Architectural Design team.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with architects and engineers to develop fire protection and life safety system designs.
  • Design fire alarm and mass notification systems.
  • Design fire suppression systems, including sprinkler, foam, clean agent, standpipe, and fire pump systems.
  • Design smoke control and stairwell pressurization systems.
  • Conduct building code and life safety code analyses.
  • Investigate water supply utilities and conduct hydrant flow tests.
  • Assess existing buildings for deficiencies.
  • Travel as required within CONUS & OCONUS.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection or related field from an accredited university.
  • Fire Protection Engineering License (FPE).
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the A&E industry.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Knowledge of Building and Life Safety Codes.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance.
  • US Citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with FDS, CONTAM, and HASS.
  • US DOD Security Clearance.
  • Experience in Fire Dynamics, Egress Modeling, and Special Hazard Systems.

Salary Range: $119,800 - $142,900 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
