Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Specialist to support our Oakridge, TN site. You will perform fire protection design, analysis, field support, and program activities within an integrated engineering team.

You will apply fire protection codes and standards, develop deliverables, and coordinate with clients and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safety, compliance, and reliable operation of critical facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Fire Protection Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in fire protection engineering.
• Experience with fire protection systems, life safety evaluations, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong understanding of applicable fire protection codes and standards.
• Ability to prepare technical documentation, calculations, specifications, and reports; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform fire protection engineering and technical work including detection, alarm, suppression, and life safety systems.
• Prepare design inputs, calculations, layouts, specifications, assessments, and narratives.
• Apply codes, standards, procedures, client requirements, and safety expectations to assigned work.
• Identify design issues, inputs gaps, and compliance risks requiring clarification.
• Support development of project estimates, proposals, schedules, and staffing inputs.
• Coordinate with project teams, clients, engineering disciplines, and field personnel.
• Participate in field assessments, design reviews, and engineering evaluations.
• Maintain knowledge of current fire protection technologies and industry best practices.
