Job summary

The Fountain Group in Bethesda, MD, is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer for a prominent client. This hybrid position offers flexibility to work on campus and remotely, located in Bethesda, Maryland.

Responsibilities include reviewing designs/drawings, conducting inspections, witnessing tests, and applying NFPA codes. Requires a PE license in Fire Protection, 4+ years of experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of Fire Protection experience.
• P.E. license in Fire Protection (Professional Engineer).
• Healthcare or lab environment experience, NFPA 30/45 familiarity.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Eligible for Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Review architectural/engineering designs and fire protection system drawings for multiple buildings.
• Conduct construction inspections and issue final occupancy permits.
• Witness acceptance tests for fire alarm and sprinkler system modifications.
• Evaluate existing building conditions through life safety analyses and hazard surveys.
• Provide technical guidance using NFPA codes.

Job Description

• $135,000 - 140,000/ year
• Direct Hire
• Hybrid schedule, you will have the flexibility to work both on campus and remotely, allowing you to tailor your workday to suit your personal needs and commitments.
• This Fire Protection Engineer role involves little to no travel, enabling you to maintain stability and focus on your core responsibilities.
• Review architectural / engineering designs and fire protection system shop drawings for over 50 buildings.
• Conduct construction inspections and issue final occupancy permits.
• Witness acceptance tests for fire alarm and sprinkler system modifications.
• Evaluate existing building conditions through life safety and hazard analysis surveys.
• Provide technical guidance using various NFPA codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related engineering field
• 4+ years of Fire Protection experience
• Must hold a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Fire Protection
• Experience supporting healthcare and/or laboratory environments, including familiarity with chemical hazards (NFPA codes 30 and 45)
• Must have a valid Driver’s License
• Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance
