Siemens is seeking a dedicated and skilled Fire Life Safety Inspector to join our team and play a crucial role in safeguarding lives and property. You will be responsible for ensuring the functionality and compliance of critical fire life safety systems through meticulous inspection, testing, and minor repairs, adhering to national and local standards. In addition to your primary responsibilities, you will also act as a mentor, providing on-the-job training to entry level fire life safety inspectors, fostering a culture of growth and knowledge-sharing within our team. Your expertise will directly contribute to public safety and emergency preparedness.

As a Fire Life Inspector, you will:

  1. Follow structured inspection schedules, performing inspection, testing, and minor service/deficiency repairs on Fire Life Safety equipment (including sprinkler systems, backflow preventers, fire pumps, and fire alarm systems) to meet NFPA and local codes.
  2. Perform inspection, testing, and service on a wide range of fire life safety systems, including:
    1. Sprinkler Wet systems
    2. Sprinkler Dry Systems
    3. Pre-Action and Deluge Fire Sprinkler Systems
    4. Backflow preventers
    5. Water Tanks
    6. Fire Hydrants
    7. Foam-based Systems
    8. Water mist systems
    9. Fire Pumps
    10. Clean and Inert Agent Fire Suppression Systems
    11. Kitchen Hoods Suppression Systems
    12. Fire Alarm Systems
  3. Discuss noted deficiencies, remedies, and pricing with customers, ensuring clear communication and understanding.
  4. Maintain complete and accurate documentation of all tests performed, generating reports within Siemens tools and uploading to city municipality websites.
  5. Provide clear instructions to customer personnel regarding proper operation and routine inspections, and assist with the training of new team members.
  6. Perform service and deficiency repairs on fire life safety systems.
  7. Complete service ticket documentation and inspection reports thoroughly before leaving customer sites.
  8. Work overtime as needed to meet customer demands and project timelines.
  9. Maintain the organization and stock of your vehicle, ensuring tools and equipment are readily available and in good condition.
  10. Adhere to all local, corporate, and OSHA safety policies and procedures.
  11. Complete required training and certifications within the specified time requirements for this role.

You will make an impact with these qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Possession of RME-I and/or FEL-A License.
  2. Minimum of 3 years of experience performing Inspections, Testing, and Maintenance (ITM) of Fire Life Safety Systems.
  3. Ability and willingness to work in diverse environments, including around mechanical and electrical equipment.
  4. Comfortable with heights, including climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment.
  5. Ability to work in various conditions (ducts, above ceilings, outside/inside, heat/cold, day/night).
  6. Proficiency in using hand tools, laptops (Microsoft proficient), email, smartphones, and tablets.
  7. Ability to safely carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted.
  8. Demonstrated ability to differentiate types and colors of wire.
  9. Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  10. Ability to work out of town 25%.
  11. Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Possession of the following licenses:
    1. FEL-A
    2. RME-I
    3. FAL or APS
    4. Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT) license
  2. High school diploma or state-recognized GED; Associate's degree in electronics or a related field.
  3. 5+ years of experience performing Inspections, Testing, and Maintenance (ITM) of Fire Life Safety Systems.
  4. Ability to read and understand design and construction documents.

  2. The pay range for this position is $44,520 - $76,320. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
