Job summary

M.C. Dean in Washington, DC area seeks an experienced fire alarm systems inspector/tester to perform NFPA-compliant testing and inspections across facilities.

You will verify devices, coordinate with account managers, and prepare timely reports as part of a team maintaining critical safety infrastructure. The role requires 10+ years experience or a 2-year tech degree with 6+ years, a HS diploma, US citizenship, and ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

• 10+ years of relevant experience or 2-year technology degree with 6+ years
• High School Diploma or GED required
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain clearance
• Attention to detail and professional work ethic
• Ability to work under stress and deliver quality results
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Willingness to relocate and work on various shifts

Responsibilities

• Test fire alarm systems per NFPA and local codes, noting deficiencies
• Functionally test Initiating Devices, Notification Appliances, and peripherals
• Communicate system performance to customers and account managers for quotes
• Prepare inspection and service reports
• Assist in mid-size FA system upgrades and installations per drawings
• Assist in pre-testing and final inspections
• Determine materials needed and order them
• Develop relationships with building owners and managers
• Complete projects within estimates and specifications
• Respond to service requests and diagnose malfunctions to bring into compliance
• Assist in installation of low voltage systems under supervision
• Read blueprints and drawings
• Maintain truck inventory
• Be on rotation for after-hours service calls
• Pursue and maintain industry certifications
