Position Overview

Senior FIPS 140 Security Engineer
Location: Columbia, MD or 100% Remote

You will have the opportunity to work in the growing IT Security field in support of National defense. The products you will work on will be deployed into larger systems and/or used in deployments to facilitate secure communications for our military in the cyber warfare environment. Join an expanding industry that is vital for National Security. You’ll learn from industry experts, work with various Commercial off-the-Shelf products across many technologies, and gain hands-on experience in a lab environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of FIPS 140 requirements.
• Understanding of cryptographic algorithms, key exchange, hashing, PKI, and random number generators.
• Experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Python, or Java.
• Ability to interpret security standards and apply them to products.
• Familiarity with security protocols like SSH, IPsec, TLS.
• Experience in building testing environments, performing tests, and technical reporting.
• CVP Certified Tester.
• Strong problem-solving and multitasking skills.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with VHDL and Verilog.
• Debugging skills with tools like GDB, WinDBG, Visual Studio.
• Knowledge of OpenSSL/OpenPGP, vulnerability analysis, and penetration testing.
• Understanding of computer security principles.
• Strong communication skills in English.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, JNCIA).
• Knowledge of Active Directory and Linux.
• Experience with electronic test equipment.
• Knowledge of X.509 certificates and protocols like OCSP.
• Network setup and routing experience.

Bachelor’s degree and 4-8 years of relevant experience.

Position Details

• Salary Range: $68.95 - $73.95 per hour

The salary range is an estimate; final offers depend on responsibilities, experience, education, skills, location, travel, and market conditions.
