Job summary

Debevoise & Plimpton LLP is seeking a Senior Financial Report Developer & Analyst to join the Strategic Planning & Analysis team in New York. This role focuses on building and delivering financial and operational reports to support diverse stakeholders across the firm.

The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented and proficient with SQL, Excel, and BI tools. You will transform complex data into clear insights and dashboards, partnering across Finance and business services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, data analytics or related field.
• Legal service sector experience in FP&A, financial analysis or similar analytical role.
• Strong SQL skills with querying and data extraction from relational databases.
• Advanced Excel experience with large datasets, pivot tables and data analysis.
• Excellent analytical, detail-oriented and organizational skills.
• Ability to present findings clearly to financial and non-financial audiences.
• Experience with Power BI, SSRS or other BI tools.

Responsibilities

• Query, extract, analyze and validate data using SQL.
• Develop, prepare and distribute recurring and ad hoc financial and operational reports.
• Respond to reporting requests and translate business needs into effective reports.
• Analyze financial performance across clients, matters, practice groups, offices and timekeepers.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and other financial planning activities.
• Work with large datasets from multiple sources, reconciling and validating information for accuracy.
• Maintain and enhance existing reports and reporting processes for efficiency and standardization.
• Develop dashboards and reporting tools providing clear, timely visibility into performance.
• Collaborate with Finance and other departments on cross-functional reporting initiatives.
• Investigate discrepancies and resolve data issues.
